At Dunoon Sheriff Court on Friday 27th June, 46 year old Douglas Young from Dunoon, was made subject of a confiscation order for £8,625.

On 19th September 2012, officers searched the accused’s address on Stewart Street, Dunoon. Within a bag in the bedroom they recovered six quarter-kilo bars of cannabis resin, with a wholesale value of £3,600. The sum of £250 was recovered from a wallet in the living room.

On 20th June 2013 the accused pled guilty to possessing drugs with the intent to supply, a contravention of Section 5[3] of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, and on 1st August he was sentenced to one year, four months imprisonment.

Lindsey Miller, Procurator Fiscal for Organised Crime & Counter Terrorism, says: ‘Those intending to deal drugs need to know that they do not only face having their drugs confiscated, but they will also be subject to a thorough assessment of their entire financial record for six years prior to their arrest.

‘Our specialist financial investigators will assess the total illegal profit that they have made in that period, and we will seek confiscation of the entirety of that total.

‘The funds recovered will be added to the £88 million already gathered from Proceeds of Crime to be re-invested in the community by Scottish Ministers, through the CashBack for Communities programme.’
